Sign Language: Learn to Speak Without Words, September 14
Learning to speak without using words is a valuable talent that aids both the hearing and the nonhearing population. Those individual who are hard of hearing and deaf can sometimes have difficulty in conveying what they need and want to the hearing population. This causes them to become isolated and alone.
Sign language is one way in which the deaf and hard of hearing can talk to others. Sign language is a way in which a series of motions and hand signals stand for words and phrases. This allows the deaf and the hard of hearing to talk to others without ever needing to utter a word.
Learning sign language lets the hearing world talk to the deaf and hard of hearing. The signs at first are pretty simple and as long as the individual continues to practice and try they will be using signs like a pro. Like with any other language it all takes time and practice to become proficient.
If an individual is serious about learning sign language there are many places where thay can start. Local churches often have groups that teach and learn signs together for the hyms and many of the sermons that are given.
