The Emotional Impact of Loosing Hearing, September 15

Hearing is something that most people take for granted because they think that they will always have it. However, there are many people who have suffered hearing loss and are now dealing with the devastating consequences of it. It can be quite heartbreaking for a mother to not be able to hear the sound of her children laughing. It can be devastating for a musician to never be able to hear the sound of beautiful music again. Hearing is something that something that people really do not think about, unless they lose it. Today’s medical and technological advances have made life a little more easy for those who have suffered hearing loss. Hearing aids are available to assist those who have suffered from mild or severe hearing loss. In the past, hearing aids were large and could easily be seen by another person. Today, many hearing aids are smaller and are not easily seen by other people.

Additionally, sign language has made it possible for those who are totally deaf to communicate with their family and friends. There is no way that the emotional pain or losing one’s hearing can be explained. However, sign language and hearing aids make it much easier for deaf people to cope.
